The TRIUMF VPN Web-Portal
Some people are unable to, or don't want to, install the Ivanti Secure-Access VPN Client. This is especially true for visitors whose home institution restricts the applications that can be installed on their workstations or laptops.
For these people, a convenient alternative is the TRIUMF VPN Web-Portal.
For the web-portal to work, you must not have the Ivanti VPN-Client installed; otherwise that app will be opened when you attempt to login to the web-portal.
Usage Instructions
- in a web-browser, open https://vpn.triumf.ca and log in
- when you see the message about the hostchecker, click on "click here"
- repeat until you see "Welcome to the TRIUMF VPN Portal"
- click on "Web Bookmarks" then one of the bookmarks
Experiment Web-Sites
Many TRIUMF experiments use the MIDAS DAQ-software and its associated mhttpd web-interface. There are links to active experiments in the DAQ Wiki. which is in the bookmarks of the VPN Portal.
So to reach in internal-only MIDAS interface, choose the DAQ-Wiki from the bookmarks of the web-portal and navigate to the appropriate MIDAS site.
What if a site is missing?
You can figure out the URL syntax of the web-portal by manual inspection of the pages that you navigate to from one of the existing bookmarks.
For example, https://internal.triumf.ca/home/about-triumf becomes https://vpn.triumf.ca/home/,DanaInfo=internal.triumf.ca,SSL+about-triumf .
Thus, https://mis.triumf.ca/science/ becomes https://vpn.triumf.ca/science/,DanaInfo=mis.triumf.ca,SSL+ .
Logging Out
If you are on some destination page, there will be a small panel on the one side of the page. It has a logout icon.
If you are on the "Wecome to the TRIUMF VPN Portal" page, move the cursor to the RHS of the black panel at the top of the page. The black-on-black icon will turn to dark-grey-on-black and clicking on it will drop down a menu with a logout option.
